Face-to-face networking events - create a lasting impression
by Paul Thompson (Sales Director, Voyager Software)
In the world of online ‘this’ and outsourced ‘that’, are people beginning to forget that actually meeting a person face to face is one of the quickest way to engage with a potential customer?
There’s not a recruiter in the land that’s not heard the phrase “I went for an interview with an agency and never heard back” – a common complaint, and rightfully so, but surely if you’re going to the effort of meeting a candidate face to face why not respect their effort to turn up, don’t fish for leads and try staying in touch afterwards? It will be remembered for sure.
Pick your fruit carefully but remember it takes a while to ripen!
At the recent UK Recruiter event it was said to me that “Pressing the flesh is a dying art amongst new Recruitment businesses” and whilst it’s not a phrase I often hear, I really hope he’s not right. The irony is that having met thousands of Recruiters in my 14 years at Voyager ‘meeting the candidates’ is touted as a significant differentiator from most I meet.
As the Sales Director for Voyager Software I picked the UK Recruiter event to launch our newest Recruitment Software offering Infinity and - it was a great success.
Sure we ‘pressed fresh’ (my new favourite saying) but we also took time to chat with customers, prospects and even a few of the competition.
Like recruiters we wanted to position ourselves (and the new technology) amongst the competition - the feedback was fantastic.
Recruiters know that candidate serious about finding a job will make the effort to don a suit and meet you and we believe that Recruiters serious about sourcing the best Recruitment technology will want to meet us too.
What better way to do business than over a coffee, croissant and look into the eyes of your future customers?
Well done to Louise (and her little monsters) for such a great event.
