‘Recruitment' job title snobbery - from an administrator

“I’m not a recruiter, I’m a resourcer” she said.

Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a fancy job title, but whats wrong with admitting you’re in Recruitment?  It was said with a certain sneer, suggesting that a ‘resourcer’ is more senior to a ‘Recruitment Consultant’ - it’s rare that I hear such comments.

Recruitment for most is unrecognisable from that of the 80’s.  For many Recruitment is a career and you can even get Recruitment qualifications; and letters behind your name - Dr Recruitment indeed!

I was to polite not to highlight that surfing job-boards all day and forwarding CV’s to ‘those Recruiters over there’ was less Resourcing and more Jnr Administrator – but I rose above the Recruiter job-title snobbery.

Recruitment businesses need their staff to wear many hats – do your staff wear thiers with pride?
